The Historic Homes Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit chartered in 1957 for the purpose of purchasing, preserving, and displaying historic buildings and their colletions, as well as for furthering the advance of education, culture and the arts in Kentucky. Three spectacular historic homes - Farmington Historic Plantation, Thomas Edison House and Whitehall House & Gardens - are presently owned and managed by the Foundation.
The Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees; each of the three homes is managed by a Board of Regents. These board collaborate with Foundation staff to ensure the ongoing operation and preservation of these important historic sites. Money is raised via private donations, special events, membership, grants, rentals and admission fees.
